Village Hall

In 1979 it was agreed that a village hall was needed and an unused old wooden office building was located. Several people in the village loaned money to a fund which, along with a grant, enabled the village to buy the building.
Members of the village then set about clearing the site at the recreation ground, and put down a concrete slab. Then they dismantled the building at the Radcliffe Infirmary and transported it to the site where it was erected.

The village won an award for its community achievement in erecting the Hall, which has been well-used for parties, evening classes, travelling theatre, Council meetings, and cricket tea; it was the home of a nursery school for a year or two. As with all community projects, it operates through the good-will and efforts of a small Village Hall Committee of dedicated villagers who raise money to maintain it.
